I noticed in Taiwan, too, that I never had big&lt;br&gt;HUNKS of meat - it always seemed secondary to all the great veggies, and I&lt;br&gt;still was full!&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I&#039;m not huge on the organic thing - mainly for the cost reasons you just&lt;br&gt;mentioned - but we all could stand to shop a little healthier, hey?</description>

		<description>Obesity is an interesting topic.  Most people think that if they go to the gym and run on a treadmill at moderate intensity for 2 miles, it will make up for or cancel out their alfredo drenched pasta and breadsticks they will have at the olive garden for dinner.  However, it doesn&#039;t work that way.  You can not out-train a bad diet.  It all starts with Nutrition.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The fundamental principle in fat loss is Calories in - Calories out.  You need to burn more calories than you take in.  The problem is - caloric content on packaging is a rough estimate, and people tend to underestimate the calories they take in by at least 10% - IF they keep track.  Secondly, cardio machines overestimate the number of calories you burn by upwards of 33%.  It&#039;s ridiculous.  In addition to this overestimate, studies have shown that people who do long boring cardio tend to over eat more from their extended exercise.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The best support for fat loss and fitness levels is Interval Training and a balanced weight lifting program that is supported by a healthy diet of lean proteins - which aren&#039;t what they used to be - and fresh produce and grains (not refined carbs like white bread which is mostly useless white flour and sugar).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;As for the lean proteins - the meat industry is controlled mostly by 4 major companies - whose major decisions are driven by keeping their biggest customers happy - fast food.  Large chains of restaurants want their food to all taste the same, so they have a consistent product.  That means they want all their meat to taste the same.  And it has come down to bland tasting beef that is fed on a high fat Corn diet.  Corn diets for cattle causes their meat to become fattier and tasteless vs. a grass fed diet.  This fattier meat is usually injected with antibiotics that keeps the cattle from getting sick.  However, it keeps the prices down so meat is much cheaper than it used to be.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;This cheap meat allows americans to have meat with almost every meal.  Something that used to be unheard of.  This fattier meat is then accompanied by side dishes and snacks composed mostly of corn products and sugar (usually from corn in the form of High Fructose Corn Syrup).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Basically, I am saying that it is easy to eat an unhealthy diet, and most people don&#039;t think that it is even unhealthy - this is the scary thing.  And many that do, don&#039;t seem to care.  It&#039;s sad, and something I hope changes, but it starts with voting with your wallet at the supermarket - which costs more money.
