Any time I walk through a store and throw something in my shopping cart, I go through about 20 minutes of arguing with myself on whether or not I should be making this purchase at that given time. When your funds are limited, you need to have this conversation with yourself. Personal finance blog No Debt Plan put together a great “stream of consciousness” on what should be going through your mind as you make a purchase.

Listen, I know it seems bad out there. You’re talking about layoffs at your own workplace, but you haven’t done anything about it. You need to start saving.

You don’t know how? Come on man, it’s not that hard. I’ll help you.

Let’s look at your expenses first. What could you cut back on?

…nothing?

There’s got to be something. I don’t buy that.

Short, sweet, and very interesting. Check it out!
